Children’s RE October 29
This will be a super Sunday at NVUU! Our older class will be using our “Wiccan Starter Kit” to make our own individual magic potions that the kids can bring home. We’ll also be learning about the Pagan holiday of Samhain and prepping for our interview with our Wiccan guest next week.
Our younger class will conclude October’s theme of Heritage by honoring those who have died. We will discuss the traditions of Samhain and Dia de los Muertos. We will read the stories The Parable of the Mustard Seed (the Buddhist story) and Badger’s Parting Gifts. We will then make a memory tree, decorating paper leaves to remember people or pets who have died.
After church, we will have our RE meeting. Agenda items include an exciting MUUGS update, a YRUUP update, making plans for our holiday intergenerational service and possible social justice project, and possible social plans going forward (a retreat? game night? outing to Di Rosa Preserve?). Would love to see you there, but, if you can’t make it, feel free to send Ginger an email with your thoughts.
