“Social Justice Committee & Common Ground”
with Liz Hall, Maggie Ingalls, and Brian Shaw
Liz Hall, who is the professional organizer for Common Ground, will be speaking about the legacy of Fred Ross. Ross was a pioneer in the field of community organizing in California, who arrived in the late 1940s and was instrumental in organizing the state’s farmworkers.
Ross dedicated his life to building the political power of Latinos across California. Labor organizing in this country was forever changed when Ross knocked on the door of a young Cesar Chavez and encouraged him to become an organizer.
What lessons can we learn from Ross as community organizers in the 21st century?
