There are times when the problems in the world touch us deeply, when despair and worry can overwhelm us, when it is difficult to stay engaged, let alone know how to respond. In times like these, says Valarie Kaur, “our most powerful response…is to refuse to surrender our humanity.” In keeping with this month’s theme of generosity, today we will consider how to maintain and offer our humanity, with open, if broken, hearts. Through poetry, music, and reflection, let us share our grief and find strength in community.
