“We Need Not Think Alike to Love Alike: The Unitarian Church of Transylvania and the Birthplace of Religious Freedom”

with Rev. Kevin Alan Mann, Krystalargo De Lindachrist, and Brian Shaw

Join us for RevKev’s report back from his recent Pilgrimage to the Unitarian Church of Transylvania the birthplace of Unitarianism. Theologian Francis David led efforts to enact the Edict of Torda in 1568 which established Unitarianism and allowed congregants to freely elect their ministers and represented one of the first expressions of religious freedom in Christian Europe. How can a better understanding of our Unitarian legacy guide us towards international partnerships rooted in our values of Justice, Pluralism and Love?

BIO: REV KEV (he/him/siyá) was ordained by the First Unitarian Church of Oakland on October 1st, 2023, the first day of both Filipino American and LGBTQ History Months. Rev Kev founded the California statewide chapter of DRUUMM (Diverse Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries), hosting quarterly retreats for BIPOC UUs.
