From the Minister
May the glory of the passing away of autumn
lie about us
fresh gold for a time….– Barbara J. Pescan
Dear Ones,
As I drive past the grape vines these days, I often think of this poem by Barbara Pescan. (You can read the whole poem in the hymnal. It’s #506.) It reminds me to savor the beauty of autumn, and to carry the abundance of this season into the winter.
I hope you savor something each day, especially now, as we enter the winter holiday season. For many of us, this is a time of bustling energy, of expectations and traditions that can be draining as well as joyful. For some of us, the season is complicated by unmet expectations, past disappointments, hurts, and losses. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of these times and could use some support, please reach out to me or to your friends at NVUU. And, as my father always told me, be good to yourself!
I look forward to savoring the blessings of the holidays, and the turning of the seasons, with you.
Yours in faith,
Rev. Susan
