From the Minister
Dear Ones,
The 2023-24 Congregational Year is rapidly coming to a close. It has been such an honor for me to serve you this year! I appreciate your care for one another and your commitment to living your principles at NVUU and in the world.
Congratulations on a successful Annual Meeting! It was wonderful to have so many members participating. Together, you voted in a slate of elected leaders (see below). You approved the budget for 2024-25 that requires some cutbacks in staffing and dipping into savings, but that also represents movement toward a promising future for NVUU.
You also passed a resolution for NVUU to endorse the Final Report of the California Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans. This week, Social Justice Committee Chair David Lindsay followed through on the resolution by submitting a request to add NVUU’s name to the list of endorsees on the “Support Reparations” website. This Resolution is a demonstration of your commitment to the 8th Principle and to liberation for all.
I want you all to know my summer plans. I will be on summer break from July 1 through August 4. For the first three weeks (through July 21), I will be offline. Administrator Meaghan and President Iris Craig will be able to reach me in case of emergency. From July 22 through August 4, I will be on study leave, which means that I can be contacted, if necessary; however, I will be checking messages only sporadically.
In my absence, the Worship Team will continue to offer wonderful and varied Sunday services. I hope you will all come to services whenever you are in town. And wherever your summer plans take you, I hope you find relaxation, renewal, fun, and beauty.
In faith,
Rev. Susan
