Minister’s Message
Dear Ones,
I am so excited to be back at NVUU! I am grateful to have had wonderful adventures and time for contemplation in the last few weeks. I will bring what I’ve learned to upcoming worship services and to all aspects of congregational life.
One highlight of my summer was attending the annual conference of the Association for UU Music Ministries. I’ll tell you more about my experience – and share some of the inspiring songs I learned – during the service on August 25. I also got to spend some time in the beauty of the Southwest, including hikes in Arches National Monument (Utah) and the Sandia Mountains (New Mexico), and visits with family and friends.
Although I was away, I stayed in touch with the goings on at NVUU and offered support from afar. I am eager to hear how the summer has gone for you. Please contact me, if you would like to meet with me by zoom or in person. I also would love to see you at the Pastor’s Potluck on August 21 or during Coffee Hour on August 11 or August 25.
I was saddened to learn of the death of longtime member Barbra McCandless. A celebration of life for Barbra and her sister Ann (who died in late July) will take place on Saturday, August 24 at NVUU. Details are in the announcement below.
I offer my thanks to all those who keep this congregation vital: the Board members, the staff, the committee chairs, and all of you who show up, week after week, to create and re-create this rich religious community. It is a joy to be your companion as you live your principles and values in this world. I am looking forward to continuing this work with you!
Yours in faith,
Rev. Susan
