Ginger Young Fisher was raised attending the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek, and was active in her teen years with PCD YRUU (where she served on their Board for 5 years) and later with PCD UUYAN. She went to college in UC Santa Cruz, where she majored in Legal Studies & Politics and wrote her 1996 thesis on “The Legality and Politics of Same Sex Marriage”. Ginger completed her law degree from UC Berkeley. She met her husband, Brad Fisher (also a lifelong UU- he is a 7th generation Unitarian on his mom’s side and a 5th generation Universalist on his dad’s side) at General Assembly 26 years ago in Phoenix, and spent much of their late 20s as adult advisors for UU youth events. 14 years ago, she started teaching RE on Sunday mornings for the Napa Valley Unitarian Universalists, and six years ago she became their Director of Religious Education. Ginger, Brad and their two sons really enjoy traveling far & wide whenever possible, and she also serves her community as Chair on the CDBG Committee for the city of Napa, and as Parliamentarian on the Napa High School Site Council, among other roles. Some of the entities she has worked or volunteered for include Legal Aid of Napa Valley, Bay Area Legal Aid, Community Resources for Children, Napa Emergency Women’s Services, Leadership Napa Valley, Coombs & Dunlap, Legal Assistance for Seniors, the Marin & San Francisco County District Attorneys’ offices, and Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Brian Shaw, Music Director

Brian Shaw’s music is best characterized by his diverse musical interests, attention to detail, keyboard technique and stylistic authenticity. He began his musical studies at age five — first with piano and then many other instruments while always maintaining piano as his primary instrument. Brian Shaw holds degrees in classical piano performance, music theory and composition from Northwestern University, with additional music studies at the Berklee School of Music (Boston) and Northern Illinois University. Brian’s career has been as diverse as his musical interests and education. He’s worked as a professional musician, composer, arranger, sound designer, and recording engineer in many different genres. Brian has also served as a coach for music students who have proceeded to study at prestigious universities and move on to professional careers in music.

For much of his career, Brian was based in Chicago where he was active as a vocal and instrumental accompanist, classical chamber musician, and session musician for commercial recordings. After a move to the Bay Area in 2003, Brian expanded his range of work with other musicians, bands, choirs, musical theater productions, and orchestras, as a performer, arranger, sound designer and recording engineer. Brian is also founder and principal at Ecoutez Music, Inc., an established Napa Valley firm providing top quality musicians, consulting, and other music-related services for weddings, parties, promotional events, holiday celebrations, and religious services.
